On Saturday morning, a group of young Tuareg men, wrapped in turbans against the strengthening sun, sat in the sand in front of their community of tents jamming together. There were guitars, drums, rapping, clapping and harmonies, the sound attracting a participating audience of friends and fellow musicians. |

Dans le cadre du festival « Présence d’Afrique », organisé à Florence (Italie) du 8 au 10 juillet 2010, deux soirées exceptionnelles ont permis aux sons du Mali de s’élever dans le ciel de Toscane. Cette manifestation réalisée par l’Institut français de Florence et le Centre Culturel Français (CCF) de Bamako, avec le soutien de la fondation italienne Fabrica Europa et de la mairie de Florence, a en effet permis à 14 artistes touareg du groupe Amanar de se rendre en Italie pour une rencontre artistique avec la population de Florence. Michael Valentine Studio - The Festival au Desert was listed this year among many major events celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Mali. I am sure that everyone who attended – including over 600 foreign visitors - would agree that despite the huge challenges faced by the Festival organisers due to the withdrawal of most of their western financial partners, it was an unqualified success...
